Welcome to Whitetail Express! As late Summer is approaching, it is time to start thinking about late season planting. The planting season is short at this time, usually only about 5 weeks. So it is important to be prepared and not wait until the last minute. This is always my favorite time to plant. Weed control is much easier, and you start seeing deer activitiy in the food plots real soon after planting because most varieties planted this time of year grow very quickly.
My favorite varieties this time of year are the Express Blend and all varieties of Brassicas such as Trapper Turnips, Bulls Eyes Turnips, and Winter Greens. In most areas, the best time to plant is early August to early September.
Be sure to check out the photogallery. I harvested a buck of a lifetime this past Nov. 16th. I was able to capture some good trail camera photos of him before I harvested him which adds in the experience. It makes all of the hard work and time I put in to know that an animal like this one lives on our property which only consits of 85 acres. It just goes to show you that you don't need a lot of land to have consistent success!
Hopefully everyone had a successful season in 2009.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call, and I can help you out with your planting needs.
